Did you know that your wisdom teeth are the last adult teeth to come in? The wisdom teeth are located at the back of the mouth. In most cases, people have four wisdom teeth. There are two on the bottom and two on the top. There really is no specific age to have your wisdom teeth removed. Typically they are usually extracted by young adulthood. Wisdom teeth can be removed later on in life, but early removal is recommended to limit risks involved with the surgery and healing time. Below is a list of a few signs it’s time to have your wisdom teeth removed. As always please contact Smiles of Round Lake if you have any immediate concerns.

Bad Breath
As your new wisdom teeth begin to fill in you might start to experience bad breath because of it. Crowded Teeth

Your wisdom teeth are just trying to fit in. Unfortunately, they are moving the rest of your teeth in the process. Your teeth shouldn’t move like this and they might need to be extracted.
Face Swelling Up
You might notice that you have puffy cheeks or a swollen jawline. The swelling can be from your wisdom teeth growing in and creating irritation to the tissue surrounding the jaw. Sometimes this can be mistaken for an allergic reaction because pain is not always present.
